Something brand new. They wouldn't have had to deal with the tons of people that already purchased the game. And you wouldn't have the reaction of, "I already played the trial and I didn't like it." How would they have controlled it so that you could only get a Live Arcade game? MS is pushing the Live Arcade aspect pretty strongly. What they did was do a little self-promotion under the guise of benevolence. A lot of people were bummed. A lot felt appeased. You can't please them all, and now MS can consider the situation resolved. Now if only the Live service was back to working at pre-Christmas levels. But it's still not entirely fixed... Ugh.
