Rumor: Dead Rising 2 Coming… But Not By Capcom?

Here’s a quick little tidbit from 1UP… Dead Rising 2 is currently in the middle of development, but NOT by Capcom (who created the original, all-too-short zombie slaughter simulator). An “unspecified Western developer” based out of Los Angeles is currently at the helm of this project.

Here’s hoping for a multiplayer mode!

    Wouldn’t a Western developer make a better zombie game anyway? Sounds like good news to me if Capcom chose a good one. As for me… not a fan of zombies.

    It doesn’t matter to me, as long as it has the polish of the first Dead Rising and it has multiplayer… Please have multiplayer!

    Multiplayer would be good but I wonder what kind of game it would be? I can’t imagine a death match, maybe like the most kills ina certain time limit. Maybe reaching checkpoints through the undead crowds, who knows.

    I’m talking co-op. The only way that the first Dead Rising could be more fun is if you had the ability to run around the mall with a friend, killing zombies. There doesn’t have to be any sort of competition.

    I agree with Shafnitz, that would be the best usage of multiplayer for the game. Either way I just hope they make the game better but if the new company messes up the game I will cry, sort of, not really but it would suck needless to say!

    Did they have an arcade mode in Dead Rising? Where they score points for doing certain things and put them up on a leaderboard ala Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Black too?). That would be more interesting to me.

    I’m actually anticipating this, and I’m not a huge Dead Rising fan. In fact, I can’t bring myself to actually like the game much. I don’t hate it, but I can’t break the barrier into fun land. Which is a shame… because I want to and I keep trying.

    I’m tired of beating my head against that wall. Hopefully Dead Rising 2 takes the formula, improves on it, and tosses out a game I can finally embrace and like!

    …I’m also happy GOW Chains will be ported to PS2. I didn’t want to miss out on more GOW goodness, but there’s no way I’m buying into the PSP.
