Sorry, I didn’t get this posted yesterday. Bungie have announced that the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Playlist for Halo 3 is Live and ready for your gaming amusement. The hopper is essentially a modified Ranked Team Doubles playlist and is mostly being used by Bungie to test out their ability to hold tournaments. They will be giving away prizes, but haven’t announced specifics on what will be given away or how to win. Still, it looks like it could be some fun. The hopper will be live from now until Monday morning (Feb. 18) at 2:00 AM PST.

February 15th, 2008New KotOR Being Developed?
February 13th, 2008
According to an analyst report at EA (who now owns BioWare), Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is listed as one of the studios ongoing projects. It’s not much news, but the first KotOR goes down as one of my all time favorites, so playing another great game in the series would be awesome. Hopefully we will get more details soon…
Oh, and to the people who haven’t played the first KotOR game (Shafnitz, MrSpinch): You’re missing out (feel compelled to play it now?). It is one of the best games with the best stories I have ever played. If you like awesome and Jedis (synonymous, I know) you will love it. Even if you don’t traditionally like RPGs.
Call of Duty 4 On Top for Second Week
February 13th, 2008I guess we can no more call it a fluke as Call of Duty 4 has held the top spot on Xbox LIVE for the second week in a row, according to Major Nelson’s weekly Xbox LIVE stats. Once again, Halo 3 has to be satisfied with a silver medal as CoD4 continues to dominate Xbox LIVE.
I must say, many of my friends have been playing CoD4 a lot recently, choosing to play it over Halo 3. If Infinity Ward can provide the long-time support to CoD4 that Bungie has shown to the Halo series, CoD4 could be here for a long, long time.
EA to Love Mass Effect Long Time
February 13th, 2008
Coming as a surprise to no one, EA has stated that they wish to keep the Mass Effect franchise going for a “very long time.”
When EA acquired BioWare a while back, many were worried they would turn Mass Effect into an EA franchise. I mean to say, they would crank out a sequel year after year, thinking more about quantity than quality. Well, EA Games president Frank Gibeau has definitely not put our worries to rest in a recent discussion with industry analysts.
I guess we can now expect to see Space Game 09 sometime this fall, and each year thereafter. On the bright side, we can look forward to Mass Effect Street HomePlanet down the line, right?

XBLA Wednesday: Discs of Tron, Commanders: Attack of the Genos
February 13th, 2008
Now available for download are this week’s Xbox LIVE Arcade releases: Discs of Tron and Commanders: Attack of the Genos at a cost of 400 and 800 points respectively.
I’m sure some will have fond memories of Discs of Tron, but I can’t say I’ve ever played it. Commanders appears to be similar to Advance Wars, if that’s your kind of thing.
Anyone planning on purchasing either of these games?
Rumor: Netflix on the 360?
February 12th, 2008
Engadget seems to think so. Or, at least, has found a blog post from someone that says that it’s coming and are hoping with all their might that it will. According to the post, a recent Netflix survey asked how likely you would be to watch content on the 360 (and PS3, for that matter). From there, the survey goes on to say that media will be playable via use of a special ‘decoder disc’ that will cost $3.
I recently signed up for Netflix (Yeah, I know, I know… 1998 called and chastised me for being late to the party) and as part of my new user survey did get questions about how likely I would be to watch content on a current-gen console, but I never got anything saying that there would be a decoder disk. Keep your fingers crossed regardless, but considering the source that Engadget used (“some blog”) don’t be shocked if this one doesn’t happen.
