Although the first Gears is probably still the best looking console game to date, Gears of War 2 looks like it’s going to up the ante quite a bit. Check out Epic’s Gears 2 presentation from GDC for some slick water and juicy meat cubes. Hit the link for downloadable versions of the video.

Cliffy B just announced at the Microsoft GDC Keynote that Gears of War 2 will be coming in November and will be an Xbox 360 exclusive. Everyone expected this announcement today, but it’s sure nice to hear it confirmed.
We were also given some details on the 2008 lineup for Xbox 360. The full press release can be found here.

Update #2: Major Nelson informs us that the trailer is available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace in HD as well as free Gears of War 2 theme and picture pack.
Who knows? But we’ll just keep pretending that the answer is yes, for now.
Thanks to Godfrey over on Gamertag Radio, we have been given a sneak peek of the upcoming issue of GamePro magazine. According to the cover, the issue contains a special report on a few Xbox 360 games, including Gears of War 2. No other details are known at this time, other than the game making the cover of the mag which hits newsstands on February 12th. But we here at XOD will be waiting in anticipation for some more information.
The only doubt in my mind? An announcement of Gears of War 2 being released in 2008 should probably make cover story, don’t you think?
Update: Mark Rein has swooped in to calm everyone down regarding Gears of War 2. Over on the Gears of War Forums, he has put a stop to all the speculation by stating: “It is complete nonsense. We have not announced a sequel to Gears of War to Gamepro or anyone else for that matter.”
