Rumor: Duke Nukem 3D Coming to XBLA

duke3dmenu.jpg

Over on IGN they are claiming to have some sources that have informed them that Duke Nukem 3D will indeed be coming to XBLA sometime “in the next several months.” They also claim to have confirmation of four player co-op and eight player deathmatch over Xbox Live.

This could be a good addition to XBLA. I enjoyed Duke 3D back in the day, but I don’t think I’d be willing to pay more than 400 points for it now.

Wednesday’s XBLA Release: Boogie Bunnies

boogiebunnies_head.jpg

This week’s XBLA release has been announced to be Boogie Bunnies… Um… What?

I don’t really know what to say about this, as I have never heard of this game before. All I can say is, at least it’s not Tron. You can pick it up on Wednesday for 800 points. I’ll reserve judgment for the trial version.

Rumor: Where is GoldenEye for XBLA?

goldeneye007xbla.jpg

We reported a couple days ago on rumors of Rare’s classic FPS GoldenEye coming to Xbox Live Arcade. According to this month’s EGM we probably shouldn’t hold our collective breath, as Quartermann’s rumor page states that the port is now dead. Elaborating on the story is 1UP, claiming to have the reason for the end of the title’s much anticipated journey over to our side.

Believe it or not, it turns out the problem is money! Who would have guessed? Apparently Nintendo is having some trouble paying their bills and was like, “dude, we need royalties.” And Microsoft was all, “no way man, we’re just paying you a flat sum.” It all went downhill from there with all kinds of “oh no you didn’t”’s and “step-off”’s. I guess we can’t all just get along.

goldeneye_screenshot1.jpgAccording to gamerblog Xbox Evolved, Microsoft, Rare, Activision (the current holder of the James Bond game license), and MGM/Sony Pictures (who have the rights to the James Bond films) have worked out a deal that will allow Goldeneye to be ported to the 360. But that’s not all!

The title will have updated graphics and full multiplayer capabilities, and should be released “later this year”. Also slated for release are Perfect Dark and Banjo-Kazooie.

Remember, everyone… this is still a rumor (and not one that any of the major players involved have commented on, at that)… so don’t get your hopes up quite yet.

Peggle Confirmed for XBLA

peggle.jpgThere were rumors yesterday of a few unannounced titles coming to XBLA. Today, one of those rumors has been confirmed by Shacknews. Peggle will indeed be coming to Xbox Live Arcade sometime in Q2 of 2008. There has been a lot of buzz around this game recently. If you’re curious to know what it’s all about, you can play a free version on PopCap’s website.

Watching Lode Runner in action brought back some memories. I can’t wait for this one. I know a lot of people are excited about Rez HD as well. So here is some video footage of both games in action. Enjoy!

Lode Runner Announced for XBLA

loderunnerscreenshot.jpgAt CES today, Microsoft has confirmed Lode Runner will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade. The graphics appear to have been improved quite a bit from the original that I remember playing. Unfortunately, they haven’t given any details on price or release date.

This is one of the few retro titles coming to XBLA that I’m really stoked about. I loved playing Lode Runner back in the day. Hopefully it holds the same appeal when it comes out sometime in 2008.

Hit the link for more details and some sweet screenshots.
